Match Reports for week ended October 30th 2011:
u-12 Div1: The under 12s had to settle for a point away to Wilton on Sunday following a 2-2 draw. Nathan O'Callaghan scored Rockmount's first with a well-struck free-kick in the first half, and Peter Cronin struck for the second midway through the second period. u-13 Premier: On a rainswept Saturday morning our under 13s had to work hard against against a determined Lakewood to get an away win. Rockmount dominated the first half but only took the lead through Alex Smith just before the break. In the second half Lakewood battled to get back into the game but couldnt get past the outstanding Johnathan Flynn in goal. Smith saw a header hit the crossbar before finally finishing off the game after an excellent cross from James O'Connoll to make final score 2-0. u-14 Div 2: The under 14s had an excellent 4-2 home win over Riverstown on Saturday. Top scorer Conor Kelly scored twice for Rockmount, with the other goals coming from Kyle Murphy and Christopher Desmond. u-15 Div 1: The under 15s picked up a good point away to league leaders Tramore on Saturday following an entertaining 2-2 draw. Rockmount were dealt a blow before the kickoff when keeper Luke Madden had to cry off due to illness, but Conor Hayes proved to be an able deputy in goal. A scoreless first half saw few clear chances as defences were on top. After Conor Corrigan went desperately close to scoring, Rockmount finally made the breakthrough after 50 minutes when Paudie Cotter and Tristan Roche combined to put Dylan Courtney through, and Courtney made no mistake from ten yards. Tramore hit back immediately, scoring twice in five minutes to go in front. The hardworking Kallum O'Connor was Rockmount's hero, scoring a superb equaliser, chipping the ball into the top corner from outside the area on the left. Both sides had chances to win it before the end, with Ryan Kelly going closest for Rockmount, but a draw was a fair result. u-16 Div 1: The under 16s kept up their unbeaten run with a 4-2 win away to Bandon on Sunday. Kyle Anderson and Ryan Goldsmith did the damage, scoring two goals each, but once again it was a great team effort from the lads. u-16 Div 3: The second under 16 team suffered a heavy defeat away to Watergrasshill on Saturday. The lads fought well, particularly in the second half, but a strong Watergrasshill side were always on top. What's RelatedStory Options |
