Match Reports weekended November 13 2011 U-12 Div 1: The under 12s played out an entertaining 2-2 draw with Corinthians at Rockmount Park on Sunday. Ciaran Dennehy scored for Rockmount in the first half as the sides went in level at the break. Jake McNamara put Rockmount ahead again early in the second half, and it looked like Rockmount would hold on for the points until a late Corinthians equaliser made it 4 draws from 9 league games for the lads.
U-13 Premier: The under 13s paid the price for a slow start start when they went down to a surprise 1-0 defeat at Leeds on Saturday. Leeds scored in the first minute, and although Rockmount dominated the rest of the game they were unable to get past a very determined Leeds defence.
U-14 Div 2: The under 14s came away from Carrigaline with the points after a great 1-0 win in this top of the table clash. Danny Gunning was the Rockmount hero with a well-taken first half goal which turned out to be the only score. Kyle O'Sullivan at right back was outstanding for Rockmount, but all the lads deserve great credit after their best performance of the season.
U-15 Div 1: The under 15s kept up their recent good form with an excellent 4-0 win over Douglas Hall at Rockmount Park on Saturday. Rockmount dominated the first twenty minutes, and went in front through Kallum O'Connor's shot from 18 yards. Douglas came into it more after that, but Conor Hayes' goal from close-range early in the second half gave Rockmount some breathing space. Keeper Luke Madden then made a great one on one save to keep Douglas out, before a superbly struck Tristan Roche free made finally sure of the points. There was still time for Evan Murray to add a fourth after an excellent solo run to complete a great performance from the lads.
U-16 Div 1: The under 16s had to fight all the way, but finally came away with the points after a 3-2 win over Strand at Ballyanley on Sunday. Adam O'Sullivan scored for Rockmount in the first half, but Strand scored twice to lead at the break. Conor Drummond was Rockmount's hero on the day, coming off the bench to score twice to give Rockmount a priceless three points in their hunt for promotion.
U-16 Div 3: The second under 16 team put in a great effort before finally going down 4-1 at Douglas Hall on Sunday. The first-half was all Rockmount, with Conor Sharpe scoring a fine goal, and the woodwork also came to Douglas' rescue twice. It was 1-1 at half-time, and it stayed that way until midway through the second half, but Douglas proved the stronger side as the game went on, scoring three times with quick counter-attacking football to secure the points.Despite the defeat, this was easily the lads' best performance of the season and they will take great heart from it.
